Ping pong

Ping-pong, or table tennis, is a sport in which two or four players hit a lightweight, hollow ball back and forth using table tennis rackets. The game takes place on a hard table divided by a net. Except for the initial serve, players must allow a ball played toward them only one bounce on their side of the table and must return it so that it bounces on the opposite side. Points are scored when a player fails to return the ball within the rules. Play is fast and demands quick reactions. A skilled player can impart several varieties of spin to the ball, altering its trajectory and limiting an opponent's options to great advantage.
Ping pong is governed by the worldwide organization International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), founded in 1926. ITTF currently includes 217 member associations. The ping pong official rules are specified in the ITTF handbook. Since 1988, table tennis has been an Olympic sport.

Equipment

Ball

The international rules specify that the game is played with a light 2.7 gram, 40 mm diameter ball, that the ball shall bounce up 24–26 cm when dropped from a height of 30.5 cm on to a standard steel block thereby having a coefficient of restitution of 0.89 to 0.92.

Table

The table is 2.74 m long, 1.52 m  wide, and 76 cm high with a Masonite or similarly manufactured timber, layered with a smooth, low-friction coating. The table or playing surface is divided into two halves by a 15.25 cm high net. An ITTF approved table surface must be in a green or blue color. Concrete tables with a steel net are sometimes available in public parks.

Racket

Players are equipped with a laminated wooden racket covered with rubber on one or two sides depending on the grip of the player.

he wooden portion of the racket, often referred to as the "blade", commonly features anywhere between one and seven plies of wood, though cork, glass fiber, carbon fiber, aluminum fiber, and Kevlar are sometimes used.

Tennis
One sport I really like is the tennis, which is a sport I used to practice a lot when I was younger.
But it was funny how I started practicing this sport.
I actually was practicing swimming but I needed to practice something else.
So I ended up practicing tennis with my big brother, who really was way better than me in this sport.
In that time I hated practicing tennis, I never had a reason actually I just didn’t like it.
Anyway I wasn’t the only one with the same problem because my big brother didn’t like practicing swimming but he had to.
With the time I started liking tennis but I never had told myself I’m good at it, I say: “I just like playing that’s all”.
But after we finished practicing Swimming and Tennis my brother and I started going somewhere else to play.
I continued swimming because it was a very relaxing exercise in vacation and when I needed to unstressed myself.
But the place I went to swimming and hour or two closed so I was stuck in that moment and I stopped swimming.
It never was because I didn’t like it, in fact I love swimming is one of my favorite sports, but I actually I have plenty.
Later then we found a new place where we can practice tennis again so I’m getting better at it but still not the best.
And I continued swimming for making some exercise and for relaxing, but also I do it when it is sunny, it’s perfect.
I don’t have a special swimmer I like because I have never like swimming as a competition sport, like for winning medals or titles, I just like it because is a nice way of relaxing so actually I don’t have a favorite swimmer.
But in tennis my favorite tennis player is Venus Williams, because she’s a great tennis player and she kept going even though the hard moments she used to have in her life, because in the end we are all humans so we do feel and not for being a great athlete we are excused from that rule, so I really admire her career.
I don’t really like seeing the matches because I prefer doing the sport that staying at home and watch it on TV.
I don’t say it’s bad, because I like seeing matches of any sport I like if the match is interesting and the team or player I like is playing, but in other cases I just find it boring, but I like it anyway.
I consider a good way of spending time practicing something you like; of course in some cases I don’t know the rules.
But hanging out with friends practicing a team sport like Basketball, baseball, football, volleyball are good ways of being with friends and having some fun.
Sometimes I’m ashamed of playing some sports because I don’t like playing the sport if I don’t know how in the case of some sports mentioned before so it’s kind of funny.

Swimming

Swimming is a really good sport to practise,it is considered a really complete sport because you exercise your whole body.
It has become very popular. Every professional swimmer has to have really good technical skills, they might swim slower if they don´t.
There are 4 swim styles:
-Crawl
-Breaststroke
-Butterfly
-Backstroke
In competitions what swimmers do is to try to be faster than their opponents so they can win, but is not only about who is faster and who isn´t, officials also check their swimming techniques.
Where do competitions take place?
- Swimming pool, generally these pools are 25m long but they can also be 50m long, like those that are used in Olympic Games.
-Open water body,it could be a lake or a sea. There are 5km, 10km and 25km events for both genres.

My opinion about sports.

I've never considered myself as an athletic person, because I've always prefered to stay inside my house reading a book, playing videogames, watching TV or listening music.
There are some sports that I don't like too much, for example, I really don't like soccer, voleyball and basketball, I always think that the ball is going to hit me and that scares me, hahaha.

Even though, I do know that sports are good for my health and that I should exercise once in a while. I used to go swimming in the afternoons after school some years ago, but I stopped because I didn't have enough time to keep practicing it, the same thing happened a few years after when I started to play tennis.
Now, if I'm not too tired after doing my homework, I ride my bike around my neighborhood for a while (like 1 or 2 hours.)
I think sports are a nice way to keep your body healthy and to have a good time with your family or friends.

Mexico at the Olympic Games

Mexico at the Olympics has been represented by the

Mexican Olympic Committe. Mexico was the first latin

american country to host the Olympics.

Mexico's first participarion was in the Paris Olympic Games in

1900, with memebers of North American polo team, but until

the Paris Olympics in 1924, Mexico sent a Olympic

delegation represented by a Olympic Committe, since then,

has participated in 21 editions and has won 62 medals.

Sport in which mexicans have excelled is in diving, with 13

medals, one gold, six silver and six bronze. Then is boxing,

which has won 12 medals, two gold, five silver and two

bronze. And in third place is athletics, with 10 medals, three

gold, five silver and two bronze.

And the sports that have won less medals are wrestling with

one silver medal, basketball, with one bronze, and most

recently, the gold medal in soccer. But the Olympic Games in

which Mexico has won more medals, were those of 1968,

where it participed as host country.

diving =)

I like doing any kind of sports except ping pong.
The sport that I practice is diving. I think it is a very  sport but each sport has its up and downs.
For example: I suck for volleyball jajajaja.

Diving is the sport of jumping or falling into water from a platform or springboard, sometimes while performing acrobatics. Diving is an internationally-recognized sport that is part of the Olympic Games. In addition, unstructured and non-competitive diving is a recreational pastime.

Unusual sports

Underwater Hockey

In some places, underwater hockey (also known by it's cool name 'Octopush') is a relatively popular version of hockey. In this sport, two teams of six push a puck along the bottom of a swimming pool. The sticks are about 30 cm long and the puck is heavier than usual (about 1.3 kg) so that it stays at the bottom. Players wear snorkels and have to come up for air every now and then.

Swamp Football

Swamp football is an un usual form of the game of football (Soccer), which is played in bogs or swamps. Players compete on a wet bog, though for the major tournaments the pitch is simply a dry muddy field which is covered in water, rather than a naturally occurring swamp. The dimensions of the pitch are roughly 60m long and 35 meters wide.

The sport originated in Finland, where apparently it was used as an exercise activity for athletes and soldiers, as playing on soft bog is very physically demanding.

Cow Racing

It seems like anything that you can sit on you can ride and race. In Mt Compass in South Australia, they hold cow races every second Sunday in February. The cows are ridden by a jockey. Obviously it is hard to stay on board, as each jockey also needs an assistant, which they call 'urgers', who help to keep them mounted.

And the weirdest (for me)

Elephant Polo

The sport of elephant polo has been around since the British first went to India and adapted their horseback game to use elephants. The rules are very similar to horse polo, except the pitch is shorter and the riders have a trainer on board as well (called a 'manout') to help control the elephant. Originally a soccer ball was used, but now that has been replaced by a standard polo ball.

What do I think of sports?

I like doing sports like Volleyball, Soccer and Gymnastic, but I don’t practice them a lot, I just play them in the school, because in the afternoon sometimes I don't have enough time so  I spend the day doing my homework and when I have freetime I like to lay in my bed, I don’t consider myself as a girl that doesn’t like sports but I rather being listening to music or reading stories. I think if I can take the chance of practicing any sport, maybe I will choose Volleyball because I consider it an interesting sport where you can work as a team and you can have support from other people.

- Alejandra.

This is me when I'm really tired of sports.

I like Volleyball, you should practice it.

Baseball

Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams
of nine players. The aim is to score runs by hitting a

thrownball with a bat and touching a series of four bases

arranged at the corners of a ninety-foot diamond. Players on

the batting team take turns hitting against the pitcher of the

fielding team, which tries to stop them from scoring runs by

getting hittersout in any of several ways. A player on the

batting team can stop at any of the bases and later advance

via a teammate'shit or other means.

The team with the most runs at the end of the game wins.

Horse riding

Horse riding is a sport in which you must try

not to fall from the horse. The obstacle jump

test will depend on the experience of the

rider, the route should be calculated from the

beginning to the end of the obstacles listed,

the rider guided his horse through obstacles

in order so you earn points and the team

(horse and rider) with the most points is the

winner.

It is very important to know the horse and

the chair is small to remove weight and that

the horse can move better.

The obstacles in the event that the horse can

not skip them shall fall by the safety of both

the rider and the horse

Animals

Animals

Animals have paws instead of feet,
wildness is one of their instincts.
They eat meat or plants,
they hunt what is on their mind.
Animals might be big or small,
but anyway their fur is soft.
People have them as pets,
and some of them scare their friends.
Herbivorous only eat plants,
that´s all they have.

Friendzone Poem.

I never thought friendship was that bad,
When you are in the friendzone you can't party hard.
Being in the friendzone makes me sad,
Being in the friendzone breaks my heart.
