Dissociative identity
disorder
Dissociative identity
disorder (DID) or Multiple personality disorder is a mental disorder
characterized by two or more identities that control a person’s behavior.
The symptoms of DID are:
·
Inability to recall personal information
·
Often they refer to themselves as we, he or
she
·
Severe headaches
Most of the patients with
DID report sexual abuse and physical abuse.
Yesterday we saw a video of
a woman that suffers of DID in which she showed the things she use or used to
do, like hurting herself and no control in her behavior. Tracy said she has 5
personalities: Susan, Becky, Miss Anne, Samantha and Emily, and she showed how
she calls each of her identities. The Becky’s identity called my attention
because it’s kind of strange how Becky wanted to kill Tracy because she thinks
she’s a bad person and things like that. That video didn’t convince me, I think she was acting
because she called Becky when she wanted Becky to come and I think DID come
without signal.
Obsessive-compulsive
disorder
Obsessive-compulsive
disorder (OCD) is a disorder characterized by intrusive thoughts that produce
uneasiness, apprehension, fear and repetitive behaviors.
The symptoms are:
·
Excessive
washing or cleaning
·
Repeated
checking
·
Extreme
hoarding
·
Preoccupation
with sexual, violent or religious thoughts
·
Relationship-related
obsessions
·
Aversion
to particular numbers
·
Nervous
rituals such as opening and closing doors
Yesterday we saw a video of a woman that has OCD, the
video shows that the woman used to wash her hands every time she touch
something, like the door, the mailbox, even her baby! She washed her hands with
soap and hot water, she washed her hands, part of the arm and her nails, and
every time she finished she had to be careful because if she touches the trash
can she has to wash her hands again. It’s a crazy obsession. She didn’t carry
her baby; she dragged her baby with a bedcover because she did not want to
contaminate her hands. I can’t imagine how awful it’s a life like that, I mean
it isn’t life. She didn’t carry her baby! HER BABY! Her own blood! I think
people with OCD and DID suffers a lot! They can’t live a normal life like us.
Bipolar disorder
Bipolar disorder describes a category of mood
disorders defined by the presence of one or more episodes of abnormally energy
levels.
The episodes bipolar people experiment are:
·
Depressive
episodes
·
Manic
episodes
·
Hippomanic
episodes
·
Mixed
affective episodes
The causes of bipolarity can be genetic, physiological
and environmental. Doctors use a therapy that it’s called “light therapy”. I
think DID, OCD and bipolar disorder can’t be cured because they are mental
diseases and nobody can cure or treat your mind, or maybe they can do something
but for you to not be that “mad” but they can’t cured for real.
I hope one day someone find a cure for these three
diseases and cure all people that are suffering for this. I think the worst
illness is OCD, cleaning everything around always and washing your hands every
time you touch something… It’s like a horror movie, they need help and we have
to help. We can help with taking those people to the doctor or something like
that.
