OCD
Obsessive–compulsive
disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder characterized by intrusive thoughts that
produce uneasiness, apprehension, fear, or worry, by repetitive behaviors aimed
at reducing the associated anxiety, or by a combination of such obsessions and compulsions.
Symptoms of the disorder include excessive washing or cleaning; repeated
checking; extreme hoarding; preoccupation with sexual, violent or religious
thoughts; relationship-related obsessions; aversion to particular numbers; and
nervous rituals, such as opening and closing a door a certain number of times
before entering or leaving a room.
In the
video that we saw there was a woman that was afraid of germs and she was also paranoiac
those were symptoms of the OCD.
DID
Dissociative
identity disorder (DID), also known as multiple personality disorder is a mental
disorder characterized by at least two distinct and relatively enduring identities
or dissociated personality states that alternately control a person's behavior,
and is accompanied by memory impairment for important information not explained
by ordinary forgetfulness. These symptoms are not accounted for by substance
abuse, seizures, other medical conditions or imaginative play in children.
Diagnosis is often difficult as there is considerable comorbidity with other
mental disorders. Malingering should be considered if there is possible
financial or forensic gain, as well as factitious disorder if help-seeking
behavior is prominent.
In another
video that we saw there was a woman called Tracey she said she had 5
personalities and they were:
ü Becky: The carrier of anger
ü Emily: a 5 year old girl
ü Susie: a 10 year old girl
ü Samantha: The “CEO”
ü Miss Anne: The caretaker
Bipolar
disorder
Bipolar
disorder or bipolar affective disorder, historically known as manic-depressive
disorder, is a psychiatric diagnosis that describes a category of mood
disorders defined by the presence of one or more episodes of abnormally
elevated energy levels, cognition, and mood with or without one or more
depressive episodes.
The third
video we saw it was about a guy called Percy he was a mathematician and he was
bipolar because first he was in some sort of happiness and suddenly he was depressed,
that was a bipolar disorder.
